NAME: Sidel Blanchet
AGE: ~22
APPEARANCE: CLICK!
WORLD INFO:

This story is based on the modern world of Earth that has been reset the ▒░░th time. Though there are some things that are the same when it comes to historical events, some names of things and possible people are a little different. The only reason why some things are still kept the same name as the past world is due to the recurring "familiar feeling" of deja vu. Time can be approximate to 202░, so some technology has advanced, but not much has changed when it comes to the social and political tensions.
PLANES
The world in this story surrounds the idea of planes/dimensions. A simpler of way of explaining is that those in the first dimension can see in no dimension, those in the second dimension see in one dimension, and those in the third dimension (such as people on earth) can see in two dimensions. With this idea, there is a possible fourth dimension, fifth dimension, sixth dimension, and so on that one cannot see for they can only see things a dimension below them. If there are those in the third plane, there’s also a chance that there are a body of beings on the upper planes…

How do you get up there?

Many religions have played with the idea that one’s good deeds, good karma, etc. would get them to this upper plane that they might call heaven. In Hinduism, it’s said that one can be elevated up to another plane as a higher being, but it doesn’t exactly mean that they will stay there forever. In order to leave the Wheel of Life, they would have to become fully enlightened.

It kind of works that way… If you are not placed out of the planes, out of time, there’s a chance while you can ascend, you can also descend.

For reference, souls can rise to the fourth dimension. Though they are technically "human" by identity, the fact that they now have ascended gives them more capabilities as they can see in three dimensions rather than two. That is the reason why they may have powers of awe on the third dimension, but it is normal on the fourth dimension as all those in it are given powers. Also if one ascends, it is generally explained to look plain and empty. This has to do with origin! Since they did not originate from the fourth plane, they are not able to see the world of the fourth plane completely.

Those exposed to the upper planes might be able to have a taste of such powers and that is precisely why many have tried to extract pieces of the dimension above them.

Though this does not play a key part within this story, it has been referenced and explains some anomalies such as past lives, deja vus, and things like that.

PHASE SHIFT
This is the world's defense mechanism when it comes to cleansing itself from imbalance of negativity. This can be manipulated by a sentient organism, but it can also be very unpredictable. The world can shift time back, but it can also reset completely. When resetting, all souls return to the soul pool and may or may not be recycled. Those that have ascended to a higher plane will be unaffected.

This is generally what the characters in the story may want to prevent while some may want to force.

RESONANCE
Resonance has been a recurring term and general source of conflict in this world. It is what it sounds like; it is the echo of the world. In order to make an echo, something must be done and that is why many people that are vulnerable to these vibrations have lapses of visions (though effect varies between individuals) about what has happened in that phase/reset, or a previous one. It only becomes more apparent with each phase push. In retrospect, they can be seen as invisible footprints of the previous world phase and the world in general. This plays a key role in this character's story.

Resonance gives characters certain abilities and, depending on the individual, can be shared among others. In order to do this, one of high perception of resonance must open the needed mental and physical channel within a target. This ranges from taking one day to years and it is dependent on the giver and their experience.

RESONANCE POINTS
It is a label that is used within the story to show who can see the world's memories the most, basically. Nothing too fancy, but their existence is necessary in order to sustain the world in its current state. Destroying them is much like deep cleansing and whether that is a good or bad thing is subjective.

NOTE: Sidel Blanchet comes from an alternate world after the second phase pushed into the third. It wasn't supposed to happen, but here is that what-if! Some mechanics like those listed on the top don't play as much as a role within this phase, but it explains how it got them here.

BACKGROUND:
Sidel Blanchet came from a pretty empty family. His mother having died when he was early and his father being quite the ladies' man before and after her death, he was left alone with their servants in the mansion. Yes, mansion. His father was also an entrepeneur that settled in America during one of its peaks, now owning a popular chain of hotels. This didn't do much for him, really. Though he would have been a normal child, he was cursed, gifted, however you want to say it, to have hallucinations of past occurrences because of resonance. As he grew older, he learned that it wasn't just his imagination. They were haunting him throughout his high school life and to college.

He kept to himself because of this and did his best to focus despite how they distracting they were. They were like actual people talking to him, asking him questions, but they weren't really there. It worsened when he's focusing on a person--then their past or something related to them are expressed in his illusions whether he was curious or not. It seriously skewed his view and he started to wonder if he needed help. Going to a counselor, they ushered him to maybe get a prescription from a doctor or take therapy. The implication of possibly being mentally ill did not sit well with him and he decided not to go that route. Instead, he felt that suppressing it would be the best remedy until he finds the ultimate cure. Maybe picking up a couple of hobbies in his spare time as a distraction from these distractions.

Though his life at this point was normal on the outside, that would also go kaput as he finally graduated from university (he ended up going to an art one for fashion design). He only recently transferred from a university from home to a better one for his major during Sophomore year. A new city, a new university, different people and everything. Remember though, things went downhill around the time he graduated. His hallucinations got worse and they have been telling him to be careful. It only disturbed him slightly when the biggest news during Senior year was about this gang called Skeletons and how the city was slowly becoming their territory. The internet claimed that they have been targeting random individuals within the city.

There have been rumors that they were preparing for a ritual...

Never was brushing off this issue something he thought he would have regretted, but it got him into tons of trouble. With possibly his "friends" being part of this gang and now Sidel being a prime target, he soon learned that Skeletons was more of a cult with forgotten lost causes as members. Yet they were trying to become something more--"saviors" of this world.

In order to "save" this world from its overbearing and painful memories, they must sacrifice the strongest points of resonance within the promised city. Without even knowing it until his first encounter with a member, he was already identified and labeled.

You may read a more detailed background here.
PERSONALITY:
Most people that know Sidel won’t say much about him. Why? Because they probably barely know anything about him. He doesn't expose himself completely to the public all that often and it isn’t exactly because he’s a secretive person. It just seems that he dozes off and stares into the distance a lot and therefore doesn’t partake in nor retain a lot of the conversation. His hallucinations are the cause of his "head in the clouds" demeanor, but it isn’t part of his actual personality per se… He is laid-back though! Taking it easy, he doesn’t fret as much as an average person nor does fumble to get things done. Looking past the fact that he may seem scatterbrained, he is actually concise with his work. Sidel likes having everything in order and has been diligent for most of his life when it comes to mundane chores and necessities. While that only shows that he can be a workaholic sometimes, it doesn’t mean he completely enjoys it as it only makes him content. Either way, he’s diligent even if it’s something boring.

Aside from his work ethic, peers closer to him would point that he’s insanely blunt. He enjoys speaking what's on his mind whether it’s shameful to him or someone else. Impervious to disgrace, he’ll gladly point out everything he thinks is wrong or finds funny. It’s a little inconsiderate of him, but his hallucinations somewhat influence his behavior. This doesn’t make him a heartless jerk, but it would mean you need some thick hide to stick around—his sense of humor is harsh. Even if he’s fond of you, that only means you’ll get most of his attention… Whether or not that’s a good thing depends on how you interpret it. While he’s blunt and doesn’t hold back, he enjoys adding a lot of sass to his words as well. It may sound antagonistic! And sometimes he means it to be.

Let’s get this straight, he’s a patronizer and he doesn’t cope well with intimacy. Lacking in it most of his life, he doesn’t know how to deal with liking someone nor having someone as a close friend. Though this is normal for those that are deterred from social interaction, he has a long, budding relationship with jealousy. While he doesn’t feel much reason to judge nor control the other person at first, he will become possessive once they find their way into his heart. He wouldn’t be able to stand the idea of not having their full attention. This is one thing he isn’t proud of and is the sole reason why he steers clear of growing too attached. Though intimacy proves to be an obstacle, he finds no trouble in being affectionate. He’s very used to all kinds of physical affection from playful punches to love bites—only to those he’s fairly familiar with though, unless someone’s being flirty with him.

Now that we got some of his traits down, his interests vary… He enjoys watching television! It’s easy to do (since aside from getting things done, he's pretty lazy) and doesn’t take much effort and it helps distract him from his hallucinations. Actually, a lot of his hobbies are picked up for that purpose. Sewing, whatever kind of sports (though his hallucinations actually deter him from performing optimally), cooking, and he tried to play the guitar once (he didn’t follow through with it). Also with all the money, he enjoys shopping and is quite nitpicky about design. While these activities postpone his slow drop into insanity, his hallucinations still affect his well-being and personality to a small degree. They’ve dampened his personality, suppressed his emotions, and scrambled what goals he once set for himself. There are some perks though.

His hallucinations actually provide him the comfort and company he ever needs, though seeing them in general sometimes pushes him over the edge. Their occurrence in general makes it difficult for him to detect the boundary between reality and illusions. Losing contact with reality, sometimes his actions reflect his thoughts on reality being very much like a dream. It creates many difficulties in creating relationships to making decisions. Likewise, he doesn’t think too much on the consequences, feelings, identity, complete satisfaction, spirituality, self-worth, and things of the like. At some points where his hallucinations drown him, out-of-body experiences happen as his willpower fuels his impulses—yet in completely honesty, it looks plain reckless. With the lack of goals and attachments, he had to put his ambitions and work ethic somewhere, right? Generally, his hallucinations can work out to be a symbiotic and parasitic relation. It can make him paranoid or relaxed, happy or depressed, act fast or slow his movements, and whatever possible.

He works fine with them around, but he wants to get rid of them. Why? Because he desperately wants to be normal. He wants to be able to wake up to things that are actually happening at that moment rather than see people and hear things of the past. Being accepted is a big deal to him whether he likes it or not. In his heart, he wants to be accepted by his father, his step-mothers, and society… If they were to know he’s like this, he’ll probably be seen differently and receive pity. Though his hallucinations have mixed up his goals, his long-term determination is bent on covering them up and finding a cure.

To sum it all up, Sidel appears to be your normal young man! He doesn’t exert an aura that screams FREAK, but there is definitely something off in how he looks into the distance and how reckless his acts are. They don’t match well with his everyday sassy, rude disposition and they might as well contradict him completely. It should spell out that he’s a plagued, lost individual looking for his place in life, but he’ll be damned if he lets anyone learn that.
PROJECTED CLASS: MAGE ➠ SHAMAN

I think it would fit Sidel's personality well even if he wouldn't be too fond of it. In reality, he wouldn't be too happy about anything related to powers let alone dark things and making people suffer from disease. It would be a big obstacle for him to overcome and I promise hilarity when he finally accepts it.

SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON SAMPLE: once upon a time i had a bunch of text threads
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
Everything was dark and all he remembered was telling himself he had to stay awake—or he can take a small nap of half an hour. Fidgety and wary, he couldn’t let himself be vulnerable in this town let alone being vehemently kidnapped to be slaughtered on some dirty altar in some begotten woods of lunatics. Saviors they kept calling themselves. It was disturbing to some degree… The city has already been barricaded in and he wasn’t sure who should he trust.

His friend was a gang member.

His other friend was a gang member.

His high school counselor probably tipped them off.

The police have been infiltrated…

Even the church—

Feeling his eyebrows furrow while his eyes roll behind his eyelids, he found himself relying on the internet and anonymous. It would have been funny if it wasn’t jumping condo to condo trying to hide. Though he felt his muscles strained from the excessive running from yesterday, he forced himself up. Joint creak as muscles tighten with each movement—wow, he was out of shape he thought to himself. Rolling his shoulders and finally taking a look around, he found himself in this unfamiliar lobby that was kind of similar to his father’s mansion… Except it was minimalistic in his honest opinion.

He sighs before scuffing the heels of his shoes against the floor, “they should invest in a better rug.”

Though his eyes felt weary, he easily picked up all the details in the lobby and noticed the doors. Most people would freak out by now and, to be completely honest, he would, too. Yet… He felt so detached—it was more of those out-of-body experiences like before. It was probably because he was half-awake. He wasn’t curious and didn’t care. What he did do was attempt to leave.

Through the wrong door.

“Hey…! Don’t go there.” A high girly voice called to him from the opposite direction.

At first he thought it was a hallucination and only brushed it off, but suddenly the atmospheric pressure weighed down on his entire being as he got closer to the other door. Indigo eyes wide open, he looks forward to notice that his gut has been churning.

“That leads to the dungeon—it’s filled with monsters.” This little blond munchkin somehow dragged him away with no hassle. Sidel didn’t see much need to struggle, but he did look down at her once she let go.

“I’m Beryl—I sell potions and trinkets, so now you know where to go to if you’re looking.” Beryl giggled as she looked up to him, but he only kept a blank face. "Also, welcome to Goldvale. You must be new here!"

Finally changing his expression, his eyebrows raise as a gesture that if easily followed by complementary comments, “You mean I must be really high for this.”

Was it 4/20 already…?

There was only silence and imaginary crickets, but Sidel finally notices this burly man giving him this Judging Daddy look from afar. Wow, how rude? Squinting a bit, he tried to return the sentiment, but only fell into apathy once more.

“Excuse me…?”

“I think your gym-addicted boyfriend is getting jealous; go back to him before he tries to kill me.” Sidel easily pointed out finger Jasper without much grace nor thought.

“He isn’t—“

“Uh-huh. Then why is he looking at me like I’m doing something wrong.” He only turned Beryl’s head carefully around to face Jasper. “Do you see that look?”

“Uhm…”

“That is the look of disapproval,” and he easily pried his hands off of her face and held them up like he was being arrested. “If this is how you treat tourists, I totally feel welcome to this Goldvale.”

While he watched this Beryl react more, he only stood there and glancing at Jasper slowly making his way here to possibly confront him about the commotion (really now) he was causing. Though he didn’t seem all too elated about the transfer, he didn’t show any disappointment either.

As long as he was away from that city and away from those people… As long as he was safe.

But then again, he must be crazy and seriously on Cloud 9 if he was hallucinating this kind of lucid crap—

“Are you even listening?!” Oh, this was a manly voice this time. Throughout Sidel's little monologue inside his head, it looked like Jasper was in the middle of lecturing him or something.

“Huh. Sorry, I only heard flies buzzing.”
